As low bidder, Southside was awarded the LEED certified contract for the renovation and relocation of the Piedmont Technical College Newberry Campus. Working with architectural firm, LS3P Associates, Ltd.., Southside performed selected demolition of a previous retail facility and the complete demolition and removal of an existing 31,998 SF building. The selective demolition involved removing interior components, ACT ceilings, duct work, roofing, HVAC units, existing restrooms, offices and a 1,875 SF mezzanine level, along with a front entry, canopies, and cutting in various openings in the south.
On the exterior, various portions of the existing drive and parking area were completely removed and replaced with planted areas. Additions to the exterior included a new entry canopy and vestibule, a metal screen wall, a library extension, and a veterinarian kennel along with front façade enhancements.
The interior scope of work for the renovation included new classrooms, offices, computer labs, biology labs, nursing labs, a complete veterinarian surgical suite, restrooms, and service/storage rooms.
