General Contractor Southside was selected to renovate this 85,000 square foot, 3-story, former BB&T building in downtown Gastonia. Gaston County is the new owner of the building and it is now the new location of their administration offices. Selective demolition includes all mechanical systems, roof, and three exterior walls. There was reconstruction of floor systems after removal of an escalator and a complete overhaul of the existing elevators. Renovations and additions to the existing facility include 60 offices/departments, break rooms with kitchens, storage/file rooms, waiting and reception areas, as well as conference and training rooms with motorized overhead screens and a law library.
