Using drawings by Overcash Demmitt, Cedar Fair Entertainment issued an invitation to bid a new Dinosaurs Alive exhibit for the popular Carowinds Theme Park located on the border of North Carolina and South Carolina. After submitting the most responsive bid, Southside offered several value engineering options to further lower the cost of the project without compromising the design or quality of the exhibit. Working with a specific completion date of March 2013, Southside first had to demolish an existing 4 acre theme park display, move 10,000CY of dirt, install 206CY of concrete footings, 27,000SF of stamped concrete walls, and almost one mile of wood fencing. The Dinosaurs Alive exhibit features 30 animatronics dinosaurs in an outdoor forest setting. A new 2,300 SF sales building offers dinosaur themed merchandise.
