Myrtle Beach International Airport
Southside was selected as the design build contractor to complete a two-phase project for the Myrtle Beach International Airport rental car services. The work may generally be described as the installation of 14 canopies covering approximately 660 parking spaces, and 133,000 SF. The project included unique design elements such as butterfly wing framed columns, 12” thick structural decking, 6” dovetail decking and helical pile foundations. Our scope of work consisted of all site work, foundations, structural steel and roofing, electrical, low voltage and security, landscaping, and concrete paving. The project was completed in 2 phases to allow for minimal impact to the client’s operations.

Southside was selected as the design build contractor to complete a three phase renovation project of the existing Myrtle Beach International Airport terminal. Due to aggressive schedule of design and construction in only six months Southside and Pike McFarland Hall Associates, Inc. Architects took a fast track approach of integrating design as construction proceeded. Interior renovations included an overall area of 22,000 SF with new plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, electrical fixtures, security and access control, restroom facilities, family bathrooms, boarding gates, and skylight renovations. Interior architectural finishes included ceramic tile and carpet concourse flooring, stainless steel column wraps, metal and wood accent ceiling clouds, boarding gate casework, phone charging stations, signage, composite fiber wave wall panels, and stainless accent trim. Design work for phase two site work and phase three façade renovations was completed during construction of phase one to allow a seamless transition in work.
Myrtle Beach International Airport – FIS
Southside was selected as the design build contractor to renovate Federal Inspection Service Facility of the existing Myrtle Beach International Airport terminal. The project included a new baggage belt, security systems, x-ray processing systems, command center, access control systems, detention rooms, agricultural laboratory, intake podiums, office space, secured storage areas and three multi-use meeting rooms. Southside successfully coordinated the project with the design team, Transportation and Safety Administration, Federal Aviation Administration, US Customs and Border Protection, and the Horry County Division of Airports to ensure all requirements were met and the existing operations were not impeded. This project was completed six weeks ahead of schedule and within the original budget.

Concord Regional Airport
Concord Regional Airport
Southside was selected by the Concord Regional Airport to build this 29,000 SF aircraft hangar designed by the Architectural firm Pease Associates. Scope of work for this project included site work, building foundation, a 255 foot clear span pre-engineeredstructure with fire rated walls, motor operated hangar doors, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and fire protection sprinkler systems. Site work consisted of grading, new utilities, paving, concrete work, and landscaping.
DHL Cargo Facility
Southside was selected to build the largest service center to date located at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. This new 80,200 SF air cargo building designed for DHL Express replaces four of DHL’s existing Charlotte area service centers and is 12,200 square feet larger than those facilities combined. The interior of the building consists of a 7,150 SF office area with an operations division, lobby, conference room, storage rooms, sales, lunch room and offices. A maintenance/loading area and an eight bay loading dock serve the conveyor distribution area. The new facility provides interior parking for all DHL delivery trucks. Ceramic tile, carpet, custom cabinetry and office finishes were utilized to complete the project.
