Gastonia’s latest Subway franchise owners select local general contractor to up-fit new site



When Udayan and Gira Patel decided to become Subway “Sandwich Specialists,” they knew they needed a construction company that could deliver quality building services in a timely fashion while also adhering to strict Subway corporate operating standards.  After much deliberation, the couple selected Southside Constructors, Inc. to transform an open tenant shell in a south Gastonia, North Carolina strip mall into a standard Subway deli with a familiar setting but a style all its own.  Doctor’s Associates, Inc. provided the conceptual design for the facility, and Southside’s group of qualified subcontractors molded the design to fit the space.  Southside fast-tracked the construction schedule.  The entire project was completed in less than three months and has since become a showpiece of Southside’s up-fit capabilities.

The project consisted of:

•  Metal stud framing and gypsum board over-lapped with high-quality printed wall covering and FRP panels shipped from an approved Subway manufacturer.

•  Accents including chair rail and polished porcelain tile on walls and durable
ceramic tile for the floors.

•  Installing a state-of-the-art industrial kitchen including a deep freezer and bread ovens.

•  Adherence to strict Subway corporate franchise standards concerning design and materials used.
