Southside Constructors, Inc. builds house of worship for new church
Previously the ministry of Southbrook Community Church filed into Providence High every Sunday morning to worship in the school’s auditorium. Afterwards, everything incorporated in the worship service, i.e. the colorful praise banners, tables, chairs, children’s church, etc., was packed up and put away into trailers until the following week’s service. However, in April 2004, the congregation of Southbrook held its first worship service in its new multi-use facility. Southside Constructors, Inc. was contracted to build the 12,000 SF facility at the intersection of Weddington Road and Antioch Church Road in Matthews, North Carolina. The multi-use facility is the first in a three-phase venture. It incorporates all of the church’s ministry needs for its Sunday morning services as well as its mid-week services currently held Wednesday nights at The Brook. The Brook also provides rehearsal space for Southbrook’s band and drama team. With the proposed facility, a stage has been incorporated into the design for upcoming band and drama recitals.
The new, irregular-shaped building houses the following items:
- 300+ seat sanctuary, centered in the multi-use facility. A large platform will span one end of the sanctuary for use during worship services, as well as the band and drama team rehearsals
Separate infant and toddler nurseries
Classrooms for Children’s Church and Adult Sunday School
A Youth Room and neighboring Music Room
Offices for the Pastor, Director of Operations, and other staff
A café where members can gather to drink coffee and converse
