Crescent Resources selects General Contractor to build neighborhood swim center

In August 2001, Southside Constructors, Inc. teamed up with Crescent Resources, Inc. to construct a 3,400 SF swim center in a new community-oriented neighborhood in Sherrill’s Ford, North Carolina.  The swim center services the residents of more than 100 homes.  Therefore, the clubhouse was designed to be functional and durable but also attractive and relaxing.  Natural materials were utilized in the construction both on the inside and out in order to achieve the appropriate “feel” for the swim center.  The earth tones of the cedar shake and rock that adorn the building’s exterior were repeated in the main room of the clubhouse. The 39-foot gas log fireplace was covered with imported Arkansas field stone and an old-world glaze.  The kitchen and wet bar areas were treated with high-end tile, and hardwood floors can be found throughout.  French doors open from the clubroom onto large sun deck covered with a trellis roof which leads down to the Olympic-size swimming pool. Other neighborhood amenities included a tennis court and children’s playground.  Southside worked diligently to complete the overall project in just six months so that the swim center could be fully utilized by summer 2002.

Unique features incorporated into the construction of the swim center were:

• Thirty-nine foot vaulted ceilings highlighted with exposed wood beams
• Hardwood and ceramic tile floors
• A propane gas log fireplace that extends from the floor to the 39’ ceiling
• An old world glaze on the upper portion of the fireplace and Arkansas field stone covering the bottom portion and the mantle
• An Olympic-size swimming pool
