Moore County Schools selects General Contractor for additions and renovations



Shortly after a successful public bid, Southside Constructors, Inc. began the additions to four elementary schools in the Moore County School District. Designed by SfL+a Architects, the classroom additions will be composed of:
 
Sandhills Farmlife Elementary School will include a new two story addition with three classrooms and restrooms on the lower level as well as three classrooms, data closet, and mechanical room on the main level for at total of 6,950 SF. The exterior of the building will consist of block CMU, brick veneer and a membrane roof.

Robbins Elementary School will include two new additions with six classrooms, a lobby with reception area, offices, conference, health, and resource rooms, as well as storage areas, restrooms and a workroom for a total of 13,772 SF. The exterior of the building will consist of wood trusses, brick veneer, a shingle and membrane roof, and aluminum windows.

Westmoore Elementary School will include three new classroom additions with nine classrooms, two vestibules, mechanical rooms, data closet, and restrooms for a total of 12,424 SF. The exterior of the building will consist of block CMU, brick veneer, wood trusses, a shingle and membrane roof, and wood clad windows. A new aluminum canopy system and new sidewalks will also be included in the scope of work.

Highfalls Elementary School will include two new building additions with eight classrooms, vocational, science, computer, and art rooms, as well as a workroom, data closet and restrooms for a total of 19,421 SF. The exterior of the building will consist of block CMU, brick veneer, light gauge engineered metal trusses, a shingle roof, and aluminum windows. A new boiler room will be added and new steam pipes will be added to each of the existing buildings.
