Gaston County selects local General Contractor to transform former BB&T building into their new administrative offices

General Contractor Southside Constructors, Inc. was selected to renovate this 85,000 square foot, 3-story, former BB&T building in downtown Gastonia. Gaston County is the new owner of the building and it is now the new location of their administration offices. Selective demolition includes all mechanical systems, roof, and three exterior walls.  There was reconstruction of floor systems after removal of an escalator and a complete overhaul of the existing elevators. Renovations and additions to the existing facility include 60 offices/departments, break rooms with kitchens, storage/file rooms, waiting and reception areas, as well as conference and training rooms with motorized overhead screens and a law library. 

Other major endeavors of this project included:

• Renovations to the exterior including new storefronts and brick veneer
• Installation of new hydraulic elevators
• Granite floors, ceramic tile, paint and wall covering
