General Contractor transforms old Fat City Deli property into Fat City Lofts

Charlotte, North Carolina, December 15, 2009 — Southside Constructors, Inc. and Fat City Partners have transformed the old Fat City Deli property into a distinctive modern six-story condominium/retail complex. Located in the heart of Charlotte in the NoDa Arts District, this new multi-use development consists of 26 residential loft-style condominiums as well as 8,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.

The facade of the 35,000 square foot building has been designed to maintain the integrity of the historical Fat City building by using graffiti style art on two sides of the building. The 70-foot-tall metallic octagonal tower incorporates transparent upper corner elements on each face of the building. The façade also incorporates decorative frames, cornices, and balconies for some units.

The condominiums are comprised of contemporary two and three story unit lofts with interior mezzanine levels. The two-story lofts range from 700 SF—1,100 SF and include a living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, two bathrooms, balcony and steel spiral staircase; the three-story lofts range from 1,240 SF– 1,670 SF and include a living room, dining room, kitchen, two-three bedrooms, two bathrooms, balcony, and scissor stairs. Each unit has a 20-foot ceiling area with open floor and glass expanses as well as Brazilian cherry flooring, oversized windows, large closets and built-in cabinetry.
