Earl Tindol Ford selects General Contractor to build new world headquarters
One Hundred percent satisfied with work completed on the Earl Tindol Ford Body Shop, the Tindol family selected Southside Constructors, Inc. to be their design and building partner once again, this time on their new showroom facility also in Gastonia, North Carolina. The two teams put their heads together in January of 2001 to formulate a design plan. The mutual collaboration developed into a two-story structural steel building with an EIFS skin. Demolition of the existing dealership began in March of that same year. Southside fast-tracked the project so as to cause the least disturbance to the dealership’s work activities. Southside’s team members quickly erected the metal frame of the new showroom utilizing the Ford signature wedged design including eye-catching exposed structural features in the interior’s high bay that were further accentuated by “Ford” blue spiral duct work. Other interior features included top quality acoustical ceiling with insulation to aid with temperature control and sound management.
Other building additions included:
- A two-story parts department Several administrative offices Separate departments for finance and insurance An open sales and training area Renovated service department with an air conditioning system equipped with
- carbon monoxide filtration and monitoring devices, additional metal halide
- lights, and newly painted walls and deck
In 2008 Southside performed an exterior façade upfit (see photo below) and interior renovations to the existing 27,478 SF Ford dealership to allow for the addition of Lincoln Mercury. The project included a new parapet structure, structural steel and all connections required to tie new steel to existing building structure, as well as a new electrical signage system. Interior modifications in the showroom consisted of carpet and the replacement of porcelain tile.
