Local Dealership selects General Contractor to build new body shop and paint facility

Members of the Tindol Family Limited Partnership, owners and operators of a Ford automobile dealership in Gastonia, North Carolina, selected Southside Constructors, Inc. to be their design-build partner in early 2001 for the construction of the dealership’s new body shop and paint facility.  Southside assisted the Tindol’s in designing a 12,000 SF facility that would best meet the specific needs of the Earl Tindol Ford Dealership.  Construction activities proceeded almost immediately by clearing and grading nearly five acres of wooded land atop which the new body shop was slated to stand.  Southside team members began to make a “dent” in the construction of the pre-engineered structure just two months later due to the fact that Southside facilitated complete civil and building design in a 60-day window allowing the work to move along at a very rapid pace.  Southside continued to fast-track construction efforts allowing for building completion and turnover to the owner by September of 2001, just four months after construction efforts began.

The final product is a pre-engineered structural system with metal skin and now houses:

• Support offices, restroom facilities, a break room, and locker rooms
• State-of-the-art paint booths outfitted with fire suppression and carbon 
  monoxide filtration systems
• Below ground pits under the paintbooths
• A metal halide lighting system
• Compressed air receptacles.
