General Contractor selected to build new location for community pediatric dental practice

Pediatric dentist, Dr. Bill Connor with some assistance from his selected architect, Stewart-Cooper-Newell Architects, hand-picked Southside Constructors, Inc. to provide general construction services for his new 14,000 SF dental practice.  Extensive site work, concrete, and masonry operations were performed to ensure appropriate placement of the new building on its prime corner lot including constructing a 13–foot retaining wall along the side elevation.  Structural components included intricate steel framing, pre-engineered wood, and light gauge metal framing.  Internally, the two-story, load-bearing masonry structure was specifically designed to house state-of-the-art dental facilities and equipment including exam rooms, an x-ray room virtually up-fitted to produce all digital x-rays, patient waiting room, laboratories, surgical procedure rooms, and other administrative areas.  Dr. Connor also incorporated a weight room, twelve showers, and a locker room into his floor plans.

An equal amount of planning was given to the selection and installation of the dental facility’s interior finishes including:

• High-quality wall covering throughout, in lieu of paint
• Textured rubber flooring in the procedure and equipment rooms
• Extensive ceramic tile in the facility’s sixteen (16) restrooms
• Pre-finished millwork and doors
• Pre-finished, arched reception counter with a quartz slab countertop
• Patterned glass touches
• Barrel-vaulted ceilings
• Specialty and task lighting
