Southside Constructors, Inc. Works To Complete New Gem

Douglas Harris Jewelers selects General Contractor to build world class jewelry store
After years of being in the jewelry business, Doug and Lou Anne Harris, the owners and operators of Douglas Harris Jewelers, decided to branch out of their rented office / showroom space into a store of their very own. The couple wanted a facility that would showoff the charm and beauty of their products from the outside and, in return, draw more customers inside. After much deliberation, the Harris’s chose Southside Constructors, Inc. and Bill Curry Architects as their building and design team which headed up the 4,000 SF project. The entire project took less than six months, but arguably, the finished product is timeless. Hard pine wood floors were imported for the showroom and specialty cases were shipped up from Charleston, South Carolina to house the Harris’s fine jewelry. Exaggerated ceilings, which are accented with backlighting, give the showroom a “lofty” feel.
The finished project consisted of:
- An entirely metal stud and wood truss structure highlighted with synthetic stucco
- Quions and cornices to accentuate the building’s windows and doors
- Hard pine wood floors in the showroom, tile floors in the jeweler’s shop, restrooms, and break room
- High quality cabinetry with built-in wine racks
- A complete full-service jeweler’s shop
