General Contractor awarded contract after successful public bid

In June 2005, Southside Constructors, Inc. was selected to build the largest service center to date located at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. This new 80,200 square foot state-of-the-art air cargo building designed for DHL Express replaces four of DHL’s existing Charlotte area service centers and is 12,200 square feet larger than those facilities combined. Construction began in September 2005 and was completed on schedule in April 2006, while meeting the strict guidelines and expectations set by Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.
The interior of the building consists of a 7,150 square foot office area with an operations division, lobby, conference room, storage rooms, sales, lunch room and offices. A maintenance/loading area and an eight bay loading dock serve the conveyor distribution area. The new facility provides interior parking for all DHL delivery trucks. Ceramic tile, carpet, custom cabinetry and office finishes were utilized to complete the project.
DHL Express is the global market leader in international express, overland transport, air and sea freight in over 220 countries.
