Safety Meetings:

SCI ensures that the entire job is operating in compliance with all the client and Occupation Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) Rules and Regulations. All subcontractor employees must complete the Southside Constructors' on-site safety orientation to be permitted to work on the jobsite.

Prior to project commencement, we ensure that each contractor and material supplier has submitted the following items:

· Material Safety Data Sheets
· Hazardous Communication Program
· Jobsite Safety plan

We also develop a Safety Plan to include emergency evacuation procedures, first aid response; fire suppression and hazardous material clean up.

Weekly Safety Meetings are conducted with all contractors and suppliers. The subject of these meetings include, but are not limited to:

· Communication of hazardous materials
· Activities being performed in the upcoming week
· Safety violations noted
· Unsafe working conditions being performed by surrounding members of the construction
  team
· Toolbox Safety Training topics

SCI documents each weekly meeting via meeting minutes.  These meeting minutes shall be distributed to all attendees.

Safety Violation Citations:

On a daily basis, SCI reviews the jobsite for potential safety violations.  We document violations via a triplicate citation form.  This form is transmitted to the individual responsible for the violation, the individual’s company, and one copy is kept on file at the jobsite for review by the client, Architect and other authorities having jurisdiction.

Any vendor or contractor being cited twice for the same offense is placed on probation.  A third offense constitutes a default in the contract and process for removing the vendor or individual from the jobsite.

Safety Inspector:

Southside Constructors, Inc. has an extensive safety and health program which is led by Lester Kellough, Director of Safety.  Lester is certified to teach the 10 and 30 hour OSHA Courses and conducts on going safety meetings as well as periodic inspections of all of SCI’s jobsites.  He will issue a report stating any safety concerns or violations and distribute it to all contractors and/or suppliers involved.  A response and corrections will be necessary from all who receive the violation.  A copy of this report and response will be kept on site.  Assuring safe and healthful working conditions for everyone involved with an SCI project is Lester’s number one priority.

OSHA Inspections:

SCI prepares each jobsite for a complimentary OSHA Inspection.  We supervise all phases of this inspection and communicate findings to all members of the construction team.  This policy mitigates future safety violations and opens up communication lines between the client, the construction team and the North Carolina Department of Labor.  In the event of future inspections, we will conduct the jobsite tour with the inspector; document the construction conference and communicated findings.  OSHA Inspections are a topic at every Contractor / Supplier meetings.
